Have you read all the shiny, new books you got for Christmas? Looking to settle in to some nice, binge-reading time? February, often a dreary month (not quite winter, not quite spring), can be a great time to choose a handful of books and indulge in some reading. I find that setting aside some time to do nothing but read always feels indulgent. So, if you have a chunk of time to devote to reading, why not try a series or trilogy? Here are a few suggestions for some immersive page-turning:
The Sandman Slim series by Richard Kadrey (especially if you like dry, dark humor and a flawed main character): #1 is Sandman Slim
The October Daye series by Seanan McGuire (dark city, half-fae detective, and a smidge of romance): #1 is Rosemary and Rue.
The Temeraire series by Naomi Novik (Napoleonic War + dragons. Yes, I know it sounds weird, but it totally works): #1 is Temeraire (a/k/a His Majesty’s Dragon)
The Pure trilogy by Julianna Baggott (post-apocalyptic thriller): #1 is Pure
And, if you’re feeling ambitious:
Terry Pratchett’s Discworld books (41 books): #1 is The Colour of Magic
Lee Child’s Jack Reacher series (20 books so far): #1 is Killing Floor
